Voice Technologies VT401 VT0119  Microphone,  measures just 0.12″ (3.2mm) in diameter for a miniature design well suited for stage and on-camera performances. The VT401 boasts a wide 20Hz to 20kHz frequency response and a low noise floor ensures pristine audio fidelity.

The omnidirectional polar pattern is ideal for vocal capturing and maximizes placement flexibility. The microphone ships in a waterproof case and includes a clip, windscreen and acoustic tube, tie tac clip, dracula mount and rubber body mount.

The polar pattern of a microphone is its sensitivity to sound in relation to the direction or angle from which the sound proceeds, or in an easier way the quality with which the microphone “hears” the sound coming from different directions. The most common types of directionality are: omnidirectional, cardioid and Supercardioid.

The Omni-directional microphone has an equal output or sensitivity at all angles, implying that it is capable of capturing sounds from all directions. For this reason, this type of micros should not be oriented towards a specific direction, which is especially useful with lavalier microphones. One disadvantage of these microphones is that it cannot remove them from unwanted sources like PA loudspeakers that can lead to feedback problems.

All directional micros ie cardioid, supercardioides are subject to the so-called proximity effect. This effect occurs when the microphone is placed too close to the sound source and an increase in the bass response occurs and, as a result, a warmer but also more opaque sound.
